Education Symposium 2024
Samatva hosted an Education Symposium in Chamarajanagar District, Karnataka where we discussed the importance of education to Soliga tribal students (12th graders and college students).
208 Soliga students also received scholarships to further their education through a Samatva-ATREE (Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment, https://www.atree.org/) partnership.
Samatva members Dr. Siddappa Setty, Dr. Srini Subramaniam, and eight other speakers discussed their personal stories and the necessity of education to the students.
Soliga students who previously received scholarships from Samatva also spoke at the symposium, emphasizing to the students on the importance of a proper education and how they were able achieve their goals.
Over 250 students attended the symposium.

The goal of the Education Symposium is to inspire students to continue their education. Samatva provides for the resources many of these students lack through scholarships. Education is key for all of these students to move forward in life, and our speakers made sure to emphasize its importance.
